Samantha Brett for Daily Telegraph: Victims and families suffer as rapists and murderers paroled

CRAIG Smith, who raped a Victorian woman while out on parole, could be freed from jail in just three years.

A 31-year-old man who raped a nine-year-old girl could be walking the streets in a matter of weeks. And Neville Towner, the man who raped, bashed and murdered four-year-old Lauren Hickson at Emu Plains in 1989, could be free in just four days.

“The laws need to be changed,” Lauren’s mother Jurina says. “He should never be freed. No other family should ever have to go through what we’ve been through.”
